Default Frozen Water On Bottom Of Freezer
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS25LGMBWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

I've had a problem with frozen water on the bottom freezer of my side-by side GE refrigerator. I called GE and they said pull out the bottom basket and clean out the drain hole with baking soda and warm water. The only problem is there is no drain hole. The bottom of the freezer is solid, molded plastic. I called Ge back and they told me I would need a service call to clean it out! Any tips? There must be a drain hole/tube of some sort to access and clean out. Thanks.

The drain hole on most is at the very back of the bottom of the freezer. It's hard to find with all that ice around it. The water may be directed to the drain hole by a slanted drain or something else to guide the water. The drain tube will clog up under the fridge at the drain pan where it's exposed to lots of dust. You may have to blow it out to clear it so the water will drain through before it freezes. You may can trace it from underneath to find the drain hole.

Thanks. I found the drain. It's in the bottom of a small pan on the back of the freezer behind a panel. You have to remove four screws to access it. I poured hot water through it and it was clear. I'm not convinced it was ever clogged to begin with. It leaves me wondering where the frozen water on the bottom of the freezer is coming from - unless it overflows the pan before it can make it's way to the drain hole which is on the right side of the pan...

I talked to a repair man about this and he said theres not a lot I can do about this problem. The drain tube is clear yet the ice still forms overnight in the bottom of the freezer. It's a frustrating problem that makes the bottom of the freezer unusable (since the day we bought it). Any ideas? Thanks.

For some reason the water isn't flowing where it was intended to. Is the freezer level. Is the pan damaged letting the water leak over the side or is it loose at the bottom letting it seep under. Perhaps it's blocked somewhere else. Just look it over good. Maybe pour some water around where it drips when it defrost. and see where it goes
