Default Frost everywhere in freezer
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: CTX14AYBJRAA
Age: 5 - 10 years

I just bought a house with a GE Hot Point fridge/Freezer. Model Number CTX14AYBJRAA. Seems relatively new although I have no idea. There has been lately a whole lot of frost building up on everything in there. It is all over everything. I assume something is clogged maybe and hope someone can shed some light on what it is.

Default

Take the back panel of the freezer and see if there is an ice build up on the evaporator coils.

If there is the fridge is not going through the automatic defrost cycle.

Locate the defrost timer in the fridge section.

With the compressor running turn the little knob between the screw holding the defrost timer in place until the compressor shuts off.

Check and see if the ice in the freezer melts.

If it does you will need a new defrost timer.

If the ice does not melt the heater or the defrost thermostat has failed.

Check them with a meter to see which is faulty.

Here is a link to your fridge model CTX14AYBJRAA.
