Default Frige not cooling
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: EL7ATRRMS07
Age: 1 - 4 years

hello,

We recently purchased this used refrigerator. We had it in out garage for about 2 weeks and everything was working fine. Then noticed our drinks were not cold at all.The lights were on and the fans were blowing but no cooling.A little while later we went out and smelled it getting hot.As in, smoking hot.We then unplugged it .Pulled it out away from the wall and checked the the back of it.I felt the compressor and it was hot(not burn your hand hot,but more than luke warm).
I asked around and found out that the starter relay may be shot.I ordered a new on.(the old one rattled when I took it off and shook it).So, I got the new one and it didnt look nothing like the old one.(ordered it from the local Whirlpool dealer after giving him our model number).I put it on and now it runs but still doesnt cool.It seems that the compressor it not kicking on .I do not hear any clicking like its even getting the signal to kick on.
This new starter relay(black one) has 2 copper posts for the red wire to connect to and 2 holes in the back that have numbers next to them 5 and 6. I inserted the compressor post into one of the holes in the relay and attched the red lead wire to the post on the opposite side. Seems to be the only way it can be hooked up .

Any advice is very much appreciated

If the compressor was warm then that would indicate that it had been running.

The relay does rattle.

It sounds like you may have a leek in the sealed system. Not a good thing.

If the fridge was left running moisture has contaminated the system.

It could be fix but would likely cost more than you payed for the fridge.
