Default Frig/Freezer too Warm
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS26ZGEB1
Age: More than 10 years

Hi! My Side By Side Frigidaire refrigerator and freezer are not staying cold. We replaced the defrost thermostat and defrost timer Sunda (parts arrived Saturday). The freezer is at 30 degrees and the refrigerator is at 50 degrees. The fans and condenser are working fine...it just is not getting cold enough...am I missing something obvious?

Thank you for your help.

Did you verify that ice was melted?

Is the condenser fan under the unit running when the compressor runs.

Let me ask a few questions. Do you still have a frost build up on the back wall of the refrigerator? Also is the evaporator fan motor running?. Also is the center metal strip between the refrigerator, and freezer kind of hot. You can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Yes...prior to putting the new parts in. We had to empty the frig/freezer due to both sides being too warm (first the frig then the freezer side).

Yes the condenser fan is running when the compressor runs.

Hi Tom!!
Ummm...we took the back wall off and have not replaced it yet since the two parts did not fix the problem...could that effect it cooling? There is some frost on the coils.

The evaporator fan is running.

The center metal strip is not hot.

Thanks Tom. Any other ideas???

Is it a full frost pattern on the evaporator coil, or just the top of the evaporator coil. If it is the top, you have a compressor problem. If it is the full coil, you could have a heater problem. Is there anyway you put the wrong timer in. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

It is the full coil.

The defrost timer looked identical...On the packaging the printed Part #215846602...Timer-Defrost, 6.

Thanks for your help.
