Look for the ice build up behind the back panel of the freezer. If it's iced up check defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com

have you found the condensor? if you know the model # i can help a little more.
How cold does the freezer section get?(do the ice cubes in the icube tray stay frozen?) or does it smell bad and it's warm to the touch. how do you have the temp controls set... a good starting point would be in the middle(for both controls fresh food and freezer section). some units are deceiving.. because the freezer control actualy controls the fresh food and the freezer control. controls the fresh food.. if you can find the control that has the capularry tube with the sensor sticking out... this is the freezer control and is the master control..... make sure its not cover with ice or its not dirty. also make sure your condesnor is not dirty...most of the time they are under the unit... with a fan blowing air across it. some units that don't have the condensor fan.... then is located in the back outside wall of the unit.
