Question Frig & Freezer Light and colling prblem
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFH30PRTA
Age: More than 10 years

I have read the posted noted about the defrost timer and cooling issues for side-by-side freezer and frigs.

So, here is the problem. The upper light went out about three weeks ago (which I ignored replacing). Then the frig started getting warmer about the same time. No the frig is warm, freezer section is definitely not a freezer anymore (acts like a frig now). I checked the defrost timer, it is working.

Also, the upper light bulb in the frig is fine. When I set the freezer into defrost cycle (by turning the timer) the upper frig light comes ON but it is "barely" on. It glows very lightly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a frost build up on the back panel in the freezer section?

Does the compressor run?

Does the condenser fan run when the compressor is running?

Does the evaporator fan run?

Check the condenser coils under the fridge for dust.
