Default Fridge wont cool right
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: frt21il5dbr
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello, my first time here and wanted to get a little hands on advice. My Frigidaire refrigerator is 2 years old and although I just use it in my shop to keep my refreshments cold, it will not get as cold as I would like.
I put a thermometor in it and the temp ranges for 28 to about 39. this is after of course the door has been closed for several hours. I thought it was just the hot envoirment in the summer but it stays about 50 in the shop in the winter.
I have thought about replacing the temp control??? any ideas?
Thanks

Here is a parts breakdown, will help you find things
Frigidaire FRT21IL5DBR Parts List

Here is a link about running a fridge in a garage, just general info
Can I put a refrigerator in my garage

By the sounds of it your fridge is running correctly
Cycles properly, defrosts properly, freezer fan runs etc.
The port from the freezer into the fridge is clear and open?

If so it is doubtful a new thermostat will do anything, but you have a couple options.

1. Most thermostat have an adjustment screw to calibrate the control

2. Move the bulb end of the thermostat's temp sensor away from the cold air intake in the fridge section

Would not do either, with it full of Coke or heaven forbid beer just in case you go too far and turn the fridge into one big freezer. Use small increments of change till you get the required frostiness. You may end up with areas in the fridge that will freeze.

I have many calls on garage refrigerators. The manufactures state that the ambient temp in the garage can not go below 55 degrees. Frigidare sells a garage kit to help out. Call them for the kit #...
