Default Fridge warm, freezer works fine
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.56666501
Age: 1 - 4 years

My freezer works fine but the fridge does not cool right. I checked the condenser fan and the fan works. While checking that I noticed the condenser itself and the copper lines were VERY HOT. Is that normal or is it a possibility that it needs charged. Any suggestions to get my problem solved will be greatly appreciated.

Default Check the defrost

Your problem sounds like it's a defrost problem. What you described sounds typical of a defrost cycle not working properly. The freezer will work, and the fridge will not cool properly. Usually you will see ice forming on the back of the freezer (like older non frost free type of fridges). The copper line being warm is normal, that's how the fridge operates (removes heat and pipes it to the coil). The problem could be any (or all) of a few things. First is check the defrost coil itself to make sure it's got continuity. The problem is more likely the defrost timer or the defrost thermostat. You might want to replace both of these, they're not that expensive, and this makes repair easier so you don't have to do one now and the other again later. Hope this helps!
