The problem that you are having is likely caused by one of three things:
The defrost heater located in the freezer.
The defrost bi-metal located in the freezer.
Or the defrost timer located in the fridge control panel.
The timer is located behind the light switch.
If you look at the bottom of the control panel you will see a little button that has a slot that you can turn with a screwdriver.
When you hear the compressor running turn the button slowly until the compressor shuts off. This will mean that you are in the defrost cycle.
If the fridge has a large build up of frost then it will take longer to defrost than the allowed time on the timer. You may have to do this twice.
The defrost cycle is about 20 minutes.
If this cures the problem and the fridge starts to cool again then you will need a new
defrost timer.
