The freezer is fine but from time to time, especially in the winter the refrigerator area gets so cold that beverages freeze. I have tried to turn down the cold setting( that is to the warmest setting) to no avail. This only happens periodically and randomly.

Cold air enters the fridge through a damper or vent between the freezer and fridge. The evaporator fan in or behind the freezer blows the air through. There is an adjustment to open and close this vent to allow more or less cold air in. Make sure your control is moving this damper.
