Default Fridge side by side not cooling
Brand: Please select
Model Number: FRS26H5ASB5
Age: 1 - 4 years

The fridge on my side by side is not cooling, but the freezer is fine.

I've read through some of the other posts, and here's what I've found. The door that opens for the cool air is working properly, it opens, and shuts when I turn the temp to off. The fridge was up to almost 70, I turned the temp down, and it's down to 62, but now the fan appears to have stopped blowing.

When I first looked at the vent, it had some ice around it, which I've cleaned/removed.

I'm pretty handy, but just don't know what I'm looking for. Seems to me that I need to somehow check the fan. I have a meter.

It's a Frigidaire model FRS26H5ASB5.

THANKS.

Paul

You can check your fan here. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Evaporator Fan - ACME HOW TO.com
The fan is controlled a control board in the fridge (part 23 here) Frigidaire Appliance FRS26H5ASB5 Parts List
So if the fan checks out ok it could be the control board
Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. stopped up? clear? ice in one spot . frost everywhere.
If it's iced up it will be a defrost problem. control board, defrost heater or defrost thermostat.

OK, the fan started again and after 3-4 hours the temp is at 40 and dropping. So looks like the fan is OK. I'm going to let it settle out and make sure the temp is down, and then I'll look at the control board. Thanks for your help.
