Default Fridge Pooling With Water
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ET18PKXGW0 1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our Whirlpool fridge (bought in 2000) is starting to develop a lot of water inside the fridge. It appears to be coming down from the Freezer as it usually develops on the top shelves first and then drips down to the bottom. Nothing in the freezer seems to be thawing (the ice cubes are still ice) and there is no water in the freezer, so I'm not sure where the water is coming from. Today I noticed that a lot of water had pooled under the crisper drawers along with large chunks of ice. I checked the vent on the front bottom (the one that takes in air from the room) and it was clogged with a lot of animal hair. I cleaned this out about a week ago but the problem hasn't gotten any better. The water can appear quite quickly - within a half hour of checking for water quite a bit had already pooled and dripped down to the bottom. Any ideas what this may be? I should mention that the food in the fridge is also staying cold so it doesn't seem to be warming up or anything. Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Sounds like your drain tube is blocked
The unit does a defrost and there is no where for the water produced to go but into the fridge.
It probably runs out the bottom of the freezer into the fridge section (top back) and then out and down to the evaporator tray
Check that it is not blocked at the tray at the bottom of the fridge
Sometimes you have enough room to get a turkey baster in and force some water through to clear it. Sometimes you can get a piece of tubing and blow through it to clear it.

It is a good idea to run a 15% solution through it once it is clear. a lot of gunk tends to grow in this tube

Here is a link to help locate parts

And some additional help
frig leaking, Fridges, refrigerators, not cold enough, frost free problems and how to test, noisy fan motors, clicking on and off compressors, door gaskets

Thanks. That sure does sound like that would be the problem. That's the exact area the water comes down, right in the top back of the fridge and then makes it way down to the bottom. I'll check out the tube and see if I can unclog it myself. You mention a 15% solution above. I haven't heard of this before. Could you give me a bit more info on that? Thanks again for your help!
