Default Fridge ok, Freezer too warm, Red Indicator on?
Brand: Inglis
Model Number: ILT-85000
Age: More than 10 years

My manual says if Red indicator light is on to move temp control to OFF then to on. Red light goes out, but comes back on later.

I have yet to dive in to the unit, but would appreciate any direction.

BTW, I have electronic knowledge.

Thanks for any help

Can you please verify your model number?

It is found on a tag in the fridge section with the serial number.

Check to see if the coil in the back are iced up.

The model # is correct. ILT-85000
It was made in Canada, and also says System 2000
and type TFA-18

What does the red indicator mean?

If it is iced am I correct in assuming a problem with the defrost system?

Thanks

Remove freezer panel and tell us what the frost pattern is.

If your compressor is running you have system problems requiring a specialist. Weak compressor, freon leak, or clogged capillary.

No specific problem id, just higher than "normal" fridge temps.

So on a more than 10 year old fridge if there is a freon leak or a weak compressor, I assume it is uneconomic to repair?

Although I probably should pull it away from the wall and make sure the condenser coils are not blocked.

Thanks

Make sure your compressor is really running. Yes,compressor replacement or system work can be very expensive.
