Default Fridge/Freezer warm
Brand: Hotpoint
Age: More than 10 years

I have a hotpoint upright refridgerator with upper and lower freezer on one side. It has been cutting out and I have to shut off the refridgerator past minimum then back to normal and then it restarts cooling. What component do I need to test or replace please?
Thanks Trony 6

You need the control, that you are turning off then on. It is the thermostat. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Smile Thermostat

I would like to thank you for your prompt reply and also for the information you have given. All the other postings spoke about frosting and I knew that wasn't the problem, now I have a positive direction to pursue. I will check and replace the thermostat/switch.
