Unhappy Fridge & Freezer only cycle once
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ED5LHAXMQ00
Age: 5 - 10 years

We bought a nice used side by side fridge. The ice maker didn't work, so we replaced it last night, but we did not unplug the fridge while switching the part, which we think might have some how caused this problem. Now the fridge cycles only once and then everything gets warm. The light is on, but there's no sound of a fan or compressor. However, if I unplug it and wait a minute, it will start right up. The problem is that it will only do it once and then I have to unplug it again. Any ideas or suggestions?

I don't think that replacing the ice maker with the power on would have cause your problem.

The ice maker would have been out of the circuit with the door opened.

Have you check the control in the fridge or the thermistor.

There should be a technician sheet tucked under the fridge in an envelope that will help test the control.

Here is a link to your fridge model ED5LHAXMQ00.
