Default Fridge/Freezer Not Freezing/Cooling Properly
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX22KR
Age: 5 - 10 years

Side-by-side Fridge/Freezer not cooling/freezing properly, and is about 30 degrees in freezer; 70 degrees in fridge; compressor seems to be working, but not refreezing ice cream in freezer or keeping things cold in fridge; ice is a bit watery/glassy (versus normal opaque) and it now seems to be making it less often.

Freezer seems to be more fridge-like at the moment; fridge seems to be fluctuating a few degrees, but basically pretty warm.

I turned temp controls to highest setting for both sides; very minimal temp change after 24 hours, including trying to keep doors closed as much as possible.

Fans seem fine; best I can tell compressor is working.

Have read posts, and am betting defrost control or temperature control need to be replaced, though not sure.

Thoughts, suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

(Incidentally, for others with this model and unrelated to this query, but possibly of interest: the water valve went bad twice in the first two years or so with OEM parts; a third-party brand provided by a local appliance dealer has performed much better.)

Pull out freezer back panel and check frost pattern. If completely frosted over, defrost with hair dryer. You will need to test defrost. Go to applianceaid.com they willshow you what to check.
