Default Fridge evap fan not working and lights not working
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ed22dqxeb03
Age: 5 - 10 years

maybe this post will be less complicated than my original post. I have a whirlpool sxs fridge that i thought quit the other day. after much troubleshooting , what I have found is everything works fine.compressor ,condenser fan, defrost mode also working fine. the problem is, when in cooling mode the evap fan is not spinning and I have no lights anywhere in the fridge. I have tested bulbs and they are fine. the strange thing is the evap fan DOES work when in defrost mode. Whats the deal? I am assuming the evap fan has gone jinky, but would that also make the lights not work?? any help would be appreciated.

Here is your parts breakdown
Whirlpool ED22DQXEB03

Check behind the kick-plate on the bottom of the fridge to see if the tech sheet is there. You are going to need a wiring diagram

You say "I am assuming the evap fan has gone jinky" Normally this would make sense but you also said it runs in defrost mode. This indicates the fan is good but it is receiving power when it should not.
Something is weird but only way to tell is to look over the circuit diagram.
The unit may have something unusual in the way they wire in the defrost timer.

Unfortunately I cannot find a schematic for your unit

here is the diagram. I hope you can help to shed some light on the situation. Service Matters - Tech Sheets / Wiring Diagrams

just type in ed22dqxeb03 and it will bring up the diagram.

Well I am stumped

Compressor, Condenser Fan Motor and Evap Fan Motor are wired in parallel which is normal. For the unit to do what you describe the Evap Fan has to disconnect from the proper circuit and reconnect in parallel with the Defrost Heater.

The Light circuit is totally seperate and is probably just a bad switch.
Unplug the unit, remove the switch and check it with an ohm meter
