Default Fridge Defrosts problem
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS22KGMB WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi! I have a GE fridge that has a defrost problem. I'm guessing that the defrost cycle doesn't come on frequent enough - or long enough. I've replaced the defrost heater and thermostat but the unit still ices up. The ice builds up in the fan (makes a lot of noise) and the ice crushing motor also freezes up. Do I need a new board? What can I do to troubleshoot this further?

thanks for your help,

Andy

You will need to replace the mother board that is located at the back of the fridge.

The only other parts in the defrost circuit are the heater and the thermostat which you have already replace.

If you still wish to test the board there should be a test sheet either in the fridge section in the control panel or behind the kick plate in an envelope.

Here is a link to your fridge model GSS22KGMB WW.
