Default Fridge control board
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: g6shexns00
Age: 1 - 4 years

My fridge light and digital control number settings went out a few weeks ago. I thought it was just the light issue and replaced the bulb. Did not work. I have noticed a control board behind the control knobs and was wondering if that could be the issue. The question is would that control board cause both the lights and display settings to not function, or could there be another issue that would cause this situation? The fridge is still cooling alright and no other problems. Thanks.

What about freezer? if freezer went out too - it's the board for sure. If not - could be the light switch or the light switch t-stat or the board again. Also could be the wiring. Your model number is no good.

Sorry about that, left the 's' out. The model is GS6SHEXNS00. The Freezer works fine. No other problems than what I posted earlier. Thanks for the reply.

Default Fridge control board

I just had the same problem with my Whirlpool refrigerator Model# GS5SHAXNB00 purchased 2/2005. All 3 lights are out. I bought new lights, but as soon as I tighten the bulbs I hear buzzing and the digital control numbers go out. The bulbs faintly light up. Unscrewing the bulbs stops the buzzing and the control numbers light up. Voltmeter shows 100 volts from the light socket. The refrigerator operates fine othewise. Freezer light works. I downloaded the parts list from Whirlpool which may help narrow down the problem part.

Thanks for the reply. Someone mentioned the door switch, I tested it and that seems to be alright. Have you done anything with the control board? Let me know what you find out. Sounds like we have the same problem.
