Default Fresh food door panel, cracked
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: rnb23aa-3a
Age: More than 10 years

OK here we go.....
The fresh food door, large one, the bottom shelf. This has cracked around the brace that is molded into the door panel. This brace supports the bottom of the shelf and has developed a crack around it. The biggest problem is when there are items on the shelf it will not allow the door to completely close, oops.

My first thought was to purchase a replacement, can't find one.
Next idea was to remove the door liner and repair the crack. If I repair the crack what kine of glue would I have to use? Also will I have to install some kind of brace to help with the support of the shelf.

Of course winning lotto numbers would solve everything,
Thank for the help,
Wife is on my back to fix the door,
DTobey

You would have to repair it with a non-toxic material.

I am not sure of any kind of bonding material that would be strong enough and non-toxic too.

Your liner is listed as special order, so it may not be available any longer.

The only way to find out is to order it and see what happens.

Here is a link to your fridge model rnb23aa-3a.

This MAY work
Remove the panel
And make a backer plate for the crack. This is probably going to be the hardest part depending on where the crack is.
Get some automotive GOOP. Used to reattach window gaskets on cars. Sticks to just about anything.
Roughen up the liner and the backer plate with sand paper
Glue the plate in and hold it with 4 or so small screws, if possible. Do not put them too close to an edge and predrill all of them.
Now if the shelf is hollow get some of that spray in insulation foam
Try it on a small area to make sure it does not eat you liner
Then fill up the shelf, probably will have to shave off some when it sets

This should strengthen up the shelf
I would only do this as a last resort but you may be at that point

WOW what a great deal to have friends who are willing to help.
Here is what I did, first took the panel out. I cleaned the surfaces to be repaired, dried them. I found some used styro foam in the garage, sometimes called the black hole, and shaved it to fit the hollow space. I then got epoxy glue in a two part tube, sanded the back side, put the glue in place, filling all the holes and cracks. Well it looks like it worked, the glue is spread all over the back and the styro foam is fitted in the hollow space. For added strength, the panel is very brittle, I used aluminum tape on the front.
Well so far it is holding and the door closes just fine.
I had found the site for the parts but could not get a good number for the panel, so dodn\'t try to order one. The glue cost $4, cheap repair.
You guys and gals are wonderful, thanks for your time.
