Post Freezer works when it want to
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 2539284215
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a kenmore freezer that works when it want to, it will freeze my food then all of a sudden it gets very warm and my food will begin to thaw out. Is this freezer worth saving or buy a new one in the morning.

The freezer does go through a defrost cycle that last about 25 minutes.

Is the freezer staying off longer then that?

How often does it defrost?

Your frozen food should not get that warm!! You may have a shorted defrost thermostat or a intermittant cold control or a compressor going sour, I would guess at a bad compressor.

Pull plastic cover off side of compressor and pry off the black plastic box.If it rattles when shook, replace it.
