Default Freezer Works Refrigerator NOT Cold
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.555394-00
Age: 1 - 4 years

This is a side by side. The freezer keeps things frozen, but not as cold as it should and the circulation fan runs. The icemaker is not making ice (possible separate issue). The refrigerator will not get any colder than 45 degs and the temp is set for 33 degs. I can fix it, just tell me what to check and replace. What do you need to know?

You have refrigerant system problems, either a clogged condenser, bad condensing fan, refrigerant leak, or worn compressor.

would you please explain, in theory, how my issue could be a clogged condenser, bad condensing fan, refrigerant leak, or worn compressor if the freezer is keeping the correct temperature?

You will need a refrigeration specialist for this.

We are mostly pro's here unable/unwilling to teach refrigeration at this site, would be very time consuming and well beyond the scope of this effort. While I would enjoy the effort, I would be spending too much time.

thanks again appguy... i appreciate your help. i have seen other refrigerators on this forum with similar problems and wondered if my problem could be the defrost timer, themostat or heater.

Surprisingly, you just might have a frozen evaporator. Pull off back panel in freezer and check.

appguy. the evaporator was frozen over and there was ice over the cover in the freezer. i turned it off to let it defrost. it seems to be icing over again, i have not noticed it turning off. running constantly.

defrost timer? please forward me the link to the diagrams for my fridge.
