Look at evaporator coils and post some kind of picture. If coils are only partially frozen you have sealed system problems. Once all coils are frozen, the freezer should now go below zero. Post results.

i took the cover off of the evap coil in the freezer and it was frozen over. after turning off the unit and letting it thaw, i turned it back on and it seems to be freezing and defrosting properly. i will check the temps and post them.

freezer is set at 5degs, temp is 5degs... fridge is set at 38 degs, temp is 40degs... are these preferable temps?

appguy... do i have a defrost timer in this unit? it seems to run constantly and you have suggested the turn th defrost timer till the unit stops in other posts.

ok... [update] sears came out and said the control panel and ice maker head needed to be replaced... over $600 for them to do it... i went down to the local parts house and bought the parts for $250. easy replacement... pop and click. i completely defrosted the unit. the frig never got below 40degs. now its up to as high as 60 degs in the fridge. and the evap cover is frozen over. from other posts, it sounds like a defrost timer or thermostat issue. do i need to post another thread or will you reply to this update? send link to parts list and diagrams for 106.55539400 thanks
