Default Freezer works, fridge does not
Brand: Admiral
Model Number: HMG 52154
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have an Admiral Designer series model HMG 52154 (side by side), the freezer seems to work fine, while the fridge is very warm. Fan in back is working, the fridge temp control seems to work - it turns the unit off and back on anyway. I have also tried to "force" the defrost cycle by rotating the switch on the defrost time until I hear the compressor turn off and it seemed to cycle off. I suspect something is amiss with the defrost cycle or heaters....Here ends my knowledge of the fridge/freezer unit

You have a bad defrost thermostat or heater, most probable failure item=thermostat.

Thanks, I was hoping for that. Is the defrost thermostat part of the defrost timer assembly? When I inspected I saw the fridge thermostat/rheostat, and below that the defrost timer. Is just the defrost timer bad in your opinion?

Thanks again for responding...

You need to remove back panel in the freezer and defrost the coils. You will see a defrost thermostat clipped to the evaporator. It is probably bad. Also test your defrost heater, should have continuity.
NOTE: before you defrost coils turn the defrost timer to defrost,no defrost confirms bad thermostat.
