The freezer works good but the refrigerator is not cooling properly. I replaced the

defrost ,heater & thermostat assembly but there is not any improvement in the

refrigerator . On some forum solutions, they make reference to replacing a

defrost board but I can not find this item on the parts list. Thanks

Have you checked the auto air damper to see if it is working.

It is located in the control panel.

If the fridge does not have ice built up on the evaporator coil there is no problem with the defrost cycle.

For a detail parts list you will need the last letter of your model number.

I have checked the auto air damper but ice still builds up on the coils. Is it possible that the defrost timer is defective? I can not locate the defrost timer on this unit (JCD2389GEW). Please advise. Thanks

You don't have a defrost timer. It's replaced on newer models with an adaptive defrost control which measures different things to determine when to defrost. If the heater and defrost thermostat are ok then replace the control. Part 13 on this diagram and JCD2389GE Parts Listparts list.

I have the same symptoms (cold freezer and a warm fridge) with a model JCB2389GRS, but I have heavy ice on the evaporator coil. Is there any way to zero in on the problem more exactly, or should I just start by replacing the defrost heater and thermostat?

Per Woodchuck's excellent recommendation, I replaced the adaptive defrost control. The refrigerator now works like it is a new appliance .
