Default Freezer will not turn off
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 2539264110
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi

Freezer runs continuously and temperature drops to 10 degrees below zero but will not turn off. Door gasket is tight.
I replaced the control module but still keeps running.

Any other idea than trying another control module???

Thanks, Hugh

If you did not get the sensing bulb in where it can sense the temperature the freezer will not turn off.

If you damage the sensing bulb it will not work.

Here is the cold control part number ps426455.

Default Correct temperature sensor bulb location?

Thanks for your help but I am still missing something. I have tried two temperature sensors and neither one works. Is the "bulb" the end of the wire that I think is called a capilary tube. How should that bulb be positioned to make the control work. Should it touch the tube that is part of the freezer shelf so as to sense the temperature of the refrigerant inside that tube. This Kenmore freeezer has a clamp that holds the wire of the conrol against the freezer shelf.

The part I replaced twice has the Kenmore part number 216620100 and I believe it is the same part as your part number PS426455. Is this correct?

I think you know the answer to the problem but I am at a loss.
Thanks for your patience.
Hugh

Yes the bulb is the capillary tube.

The bulb should be place against the shelf and held in place with the clamp as you said.

I am not sure why the control is not working for you.

It sounds like you have the control in the right spot.
