Default Freezer too warm and box is hot around door
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: ziss420dmcs
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a 5 y.o. GE monog. side by side. Freezer has been getting warmer over past few wks. Is now up to 16-20 range. Whn checking I found the perimeter of the door very HOT. Not warm, but almost too hot to touch.

This heat has caused the seal to melt where the plastic is now very hot and not rigid. The heat is on the box side around the perimeter of the freezer door, but not the refrigerator door. Any ideas????

Check the coils under the fridge.

Vacuum out the coils if they are plugged up.

If the coils are plugged up the heat can not be removed and will cause the cabinet to be come very hot.

Also remove back freezer panel and check frost pattern, if totally frosted you have a defrost problem, if not, you have refrigeration problems
