Default Freezer then fridge not cooling
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KSS48QHT00
Age: 5 - 10 years

Over past 3 days this built in side by side has continued to get warmer until the freezer is now useless. Fan never stops. Nothing in condensor pan and all parts cleaned of dust. No strange sounds just the fan going all the time. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back bottom of fridge is running.
Is the compressor motor near that fan running.
Are the coils warm ,cold or hot. Should be warm.

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. stopped up? clear? ice in one spot . frost everywhere.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

The fan should run when the compressor is running. It won't run when the set temp. has been reached or during defrost cycle. check your fan here. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Evaporator Fan - ACME HOW TO.com
