Somebody having to much time, with a new thermometer. LOL. No really!!! LOL OK, I done having fun, let me see if I can help you. This is a side by side. So here is a couple of things I need you to check. Open the freezer door, and tell me, do you hear the evaporator fan motor running? If you look in the back of the freezer close to the bottom, and tell me do you see a frost build -up in the back? And last, I want you to pull the refrigerator out away from the wall, and take the bottom back off, and tell me if the condenser fan motor is running. Also look at your coils, and see if they are full of dirt. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

I checked all the thing that you talked about and found nothing. Here is what is going on with the freezer. And yes I have had to much time J I first noticed that my ice-cream was soft so I took the outside remote thermometer and put in the freezer it showed that the temp was 25 degrees when the refrig shut off. So I set it lower to try to keep it at zero. Then I started watching it. Found that it would come on when the temp was at 15 and shut off when it got to -25. thought this was too much of a range. This is where we stand. Any other suggestions

My last solution to you would be open the freezer door, and in the back on the top shelf there is a air damper, it is held in by a 1/4 inch screw. Take it out, and look inside it and see if it iis all frozen up. That model has a history of that. If it is frozen up , then it will be frozen up in the air baffle control in the back left hand corner of the refrigerator. Let me know what you find. Tom

Blair, there is something here we are missing. If I could be there and check the product out, I would have no problem finding it. So my best advise is to call a service technician out, so he can make checks on the product. Basically at this time, everything that would normally do these things to your refrigerator, you said it is not that. That's why I suggest a tech, he or she can be there and see for them selves. Tom
