Probably frozen evaporator coils. Take freezer panel off and check. Appliancaid.com has good section for this repair.

I unplugged the Freezer at 10pm last night and went to plug it in this morning at 7:00 and found a pretty large puddle of water under it. obviously the evaporator was frozen up. I plugged it back in and he compressor came right back on and I have let it run till- now 11:oo am and compressor is off, not sure why? and temp is 35degrees. checked it at 11:15 and now compressor running again.

You will never find out your problem this way. Either you have low freon, bad compressor, or malfunction defrost. You will have to check evaporator coils and post results.

I took off the cover to the evaporator coil. I found five rows of of coils. The top row was very frosty and the remaining 4 were frost free. The freezer temp was right at 22 degrees before I removed the cover.

How do I check to see that the defrost heater is not on?

Now I have even more frost on the top1 or 2 rows of the evaporator coil.

With the freezer coils completely defrosted, measure the freezer temperature after a few hours of running and post results. If not below 15 degrees, you have refrigeration problems for a pro to look at.
