Brand: Sears
Model Number: 363.9565412

Notice the freezer and refrigerator not real cold with temps set at max freezing and cooling

Freezer temp in 25-30deg, the refrigerator top area temp. 40-45deg, bottom temp about 40.

I have taken the freezer panel off notice ice build up on bottom 1/3 of coils.

Any suggestions ?

An uneven frosting of the evaporator coils is a sign of low freon in the system. Melt the ice off the coils and see if it forms in the same pattern again.

I defrosted the coils and restarted the refrigerator.
The pattern formed the same. the bottom coils were frosted.

The freezer and refrigerator controls are still set to the max freezing and cooling

Freezer temp changed to 20 deg, the refrigerator temp. 35-38 deg

Does this suggest low freon. I checked the identification plate on the fridge.
said freon is R-134A. Is this unit easy to add freon to ?

Yes, low freon. The 134 is cheaper but still requires a qualified technician.

How does the technician add freon to the system if it is a closed system ?

Also is it worth it to add the freon ?

He opens it and solders his fitting onto it and fixes the leak ,captures the r22 then recharges taking his fittings with him. You may notice a stubbed copper tube coming out of the compressor. That's where they do it.

If the leak is found and fixed it could well be worth it depending on the age of the unit and the estimate to repair.
