Default Freezer Problem
Brand: Other
Model Number: ZFC -67/42 FF
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

I have a Zanussi Fridge Freezer approx between 5-10 years old.

The fridge is working 100% fine. It is the Freezer, which is giving me complete power cuts to my whole home's power supply! It happens at least once a day and on a bad day 5 times! I have to keep putting the control panel switch from off to on plus also electrocution danger as well.

Here are some pictures to get a better understanding:-

I have taking the screws out and broke ice and is now defrosting. The panel in the lower end of my freezer seems to be jamming up building up. The freezer is frost free and shouldn't be happening. I was shocked to see all the ice building up on top of the wires! which is causing my electricity to trip.

This is probably a better view

Is this repairable? I heard that if you turn off your fridge freezer and tilt it upside down for 24 hours it saves you buying a new one I'm my case will need to dish out £400 as we have a big family!

Any replacement parts or fixes please let me know?

Thanks.

I am not familiar with this brand of fridge.

Does this fridge have a compressor or does it use an absorption system?

How often does the ice build up like this?

The fridge should not effect the power to the whole house just the circuit that the fridge is on.

I now you use 240 volt system but I am not sure of the wiring in your home.

I am unsure if it has a compressor how do i check?

Ice builds up after every couple of months.

I think the electrical wires where stuck in ice bergs.

We ordered a new fridge anyway. Fixing it would cost just as much as a new fridge £100 call out charge and £100 labour costs plus extras at times.

The compressor is part of the cooling system and is located at the back of the fridge.

The compressor is a motor that make the cooling system work, so there is no question it is working if it there.

The reason I ask is because you mention turning the fridge upside down.

That will work sometime if it has an absorption system but that is usually done when the fridge won't cool.

With your fridge you have a problem with the defrost cycle and I was not sure of the system that you had not knowing the brand of fridge.

Usually The defrost circuit has a timer a heater and a defrost thermostat.

Sorry I could not help you.
