Default Freezer not freezing, refrigerator not cold enough
Brand: Amana
Model Number: scd25tw
Age: More than 10 years

I cleaned the coils from front to bottom. I took off the face plate that covers the tubing on the back of refrigerator/ freezer. It was damp from condensation. We replaced the condenser fan and seals on both doors. The dials on set on coldest setting. The food in freezer some is frozen, meat is. The frozen juices and ice cream do not freeze. Ice cream is soft, to soft to serve. Bread won't freeze like it does in my deep freeze in garage. Water will freeze, but has a bad taste. Can you give me any help, I was trying to work from the refrigerator, but maybe the problem is the freezer setion and that causes the refrigerator not to keep cold. What can I do to fix this?

Now that you have defrosted the fridge and every thing is clean is the fan inside the freezer running?

If the fan is not working the cold air will not be flowing to the fridge section.

Get a thermometer and place it in the freezer and find out what temperature it is.

Like I said before ice cream, bread and frozen juices do not freeze well in frost free fridges.

You probably have a refrigerant leak if your temperature in the freezer is not at least ten degrees.

How or what do I check to see if this refrigerant leak? We put new seals on both doors. The refrigerator seems like it runs for hours. Going to check the running time as soon as it shuts down.

I took everything and threw all the food out! Its just not cold enough. While I got it all done. The refrigerator turned it self off. Defrosted it self once again. I turned a knob on the bottom of refrigerator, by the coils. It turned on, once again the temp is the same as before. freezer 32-34 refrigerator is 40-42. It has turned itself off three times in about 5 hours. I had more problems with AMANA refrigerator then any other brand. I thought I was buying one of the BEST not so. When is it turning it self off so often, the freezer is defrosted, there is no frost or ice. Just about the amount there should be.....
