The frig is not cooling, so we took the panel off the inside of the freezer and the evap coils are frozen. Please someone have any ideas. The freezer seems to cool o.k.

In the fridge section you will find a defrost timer in the control panel.

With the compressor running turn the little knob on the defrost timer until the compressor shut off.

If the fridge defrosts you will need a new timer.

If it does not defrost you will need a heater or a defrost thermostat.

You will need a meter to check the heater and defrost thermostat.

The defrost thermostat must be at operating temperature to be checked.

Here is a link to your fridge model ars2664bw.

what kind of meter is necessary, and is this something i can do myself? i am new to the computer. just learning how to use this site, thanks for the e-mail. The knob is missing on defrost timer, didn't know it was there until i used the parts page. I'm waiting for it to freeze again. thank you.

A multi-meter is the meter that you will need.

If you know how to use a meter then you should be able to do the repair.

The knob on the defrost timer is just a little piece the sticks out not an actual knob.

Did you turn it to make the fridge defrost?
