Default Freezer makes whistling noise
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSH25IGRB
Age: 1 - 4 years

For the past week or two, the freezer side of my upright side by side has been making an intermittent whistling noise, sounding similar to wind whistling through a window that is slightly open.

This noise cycles off and on and usually only quits for a minute or two before starting up again. Everything seems to be working fine, but the noise is getting louder and louder and it is quite bothersome.

As best I can tell, it seems to be coming from somewhere near the icemaker.

HELP?

Control Board can cause different noises. See part in this diagram for location.

Replace the mother board, behind the refrigerator. Pull out the refrigerator, and you will see a panel all buy itself, with three screws holding it in. That is where the mother board is. This is a easy repair. The part # is WR55X10552. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
