Default Freezer interior light problem
Brand: Other
Model Number: DCF1500WEY
Age: 5 - 10 years

i have a problem with the interior light of my Danby 14.8 cubic foot chest freezer(model#DCF1500WEY). IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2002.I purchased it new from an appliance dealer in 2005. the problem is when i open the lid the light comes on till the lid reaches the halfway point and then the light goes off from the halfway point till the lid is straight up. the light does not come on at all as you lower it to the closing position. i changed the light bulb inside but it still does the same thing. also the power light indicator on the outside is no longer lit up, but the freezer still seems to be working properly. i put meat in the freezer on the weekend and it froze( the problem with the light has been since dec.10). nothing is thawing!Any ideas why the interior light is acting this way and why the power light is no longer lit up on the outside?

Is you power light on the door

If it is then it sounds like you have a loose connection somewhere

Sorry cannot find any info on this unit so the connector may be in the lid or in the main body

yes, the power light is on the door lid on outside. as soon as i open the lid when the interior light goes on the power light goes on when the interior light goes off past the halfway mark of the lid being open, the power light goes off.

Then you have a bad plug or connector

I would suspect it is in the lid

If you can get at the wires that run from the main body into the lid try to pull them up a little. Do this with the unit unplugged. Perhaps a little extra slack might fix it.

If it does not you will have to open up the lid and check the wiring.
