Default Freezer/Fridge not working
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS25VGMC WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,

I have read several reviews on this site about similiar problems people are having. I noticed a few days ago my freezer and fridge was not cooling. I called a repairman over to take a look. He told me the thermostat/defroster and motherboard need to be changed. He was going to charge me $300 for all of this. I told him I will call him back because I noticed that was a pretty big price. I'm not real certain if I need to change the motherboard or not. The back of the freeze was all frost. I removed all the frost. I also removed the back panel and noticed the Coils were all covered in ice. I removed all of the ice w/ a hair dryer. I just turned the Refrigerator back on and waiting to see if that will do the trick. I would appreciate any help on this. Which steps should I follow next? I want to locate the timer to reset it but I have no idea on where it is located. I would appreciate any help on this.

Thank You.

Under the fridge in an envelope there should be a technician test sheet.

This will help to test the fridge to see if you need the mother board or the heater and defrost bi metal.

Here is a link to your fridge model GSS25VGMCWW.
