The clunking when it is shutting off is the compressor.

The noise can be annoying but does not effect the operation of the fridge.

Your freezer and fresh food section are warmer then they should be.

You may have a defrost problem.

Look in the freezer section at the back wall in through the vents and see if there is ice on the coils.

If you can not see in the vents remove the panel.

If there is ice on the coils the unit is not defrosting.

This could be one of three problems.

The defrost timer, the defrost heater or the defrost bi metal.

The defrost timer is located in the fridge section.

The heater and bi metal are in the freezer.

Find the timer in the control panel.

All that you will see of the timer is two screws and knob in between them.

With the compressor running turn the knob until the compressor shuts off.

Your fridge is now in the defrost cycle.

The defrost cycle normally last 20 to 25 minutes.

If the timer is working the fridge will start after that time.

If it does not start you will have to turn the knob until it does and you will need a new timer.

Check the coils again.

If they have defrosted the heater and bi metal are good.

If the fridge does start on it own and did not defrost you will have to check the heater and bi metal with a meter.

Here is a link to your fridge model tfh30prta ww.

Here is the defrost timer.

Here is the heater and bi metal assembly.

Default Refrigerator/ Freezer not cold enough

Did a check on refrigerator today and appears the themostate is not working right. Question?? After we turn the refrigerator on through the thermostate should the freezer/refrig. get to its correct temp or will it continue to stay on the warm side until we replace the thermostate?

Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated.

The fridge will work right for a couple of days until the ice builds up again.

Smile Refrigerator/ Freezer not cold enough

After we checked the timer the refrig/freezer still only came to 20 degrees in freezer and 42 degrees in refrig. We did this two times to be sure. We couldn't see the coils but we could see water dripping into the drip pan.

If you did not see if the coils were iced up the timer may not be your problem.

It may be a good idea to take the panel off so you can see if there is a full frost pattern on the coils.

How long does the compressor run?

Have you tried turning the thermostat up?

The compressor seems to run for a long time and I have turned up the thermostat and it makes no differance the temp stays the same.

We took the plate in the back of the freezer off, but it we only see the drip pan. We tried looking up from there but couldn't see a thing. Are we not looking in the right place?

The panel that you need to remove is inside the freezer section.

The coils are behind it.
