Default Freezer Freezes up Fridge doesnt get real cold
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FRS23KF7A
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a 4 yr old Frigidaire sxs. Ice/water in the door. The condensor coils in the freezer froze up solid and even the cover had half inch of ice on it. The temp in the freezer was close to fine but the refrigerator side warmed up to over 50. Any ideas on the problem???
Thanks!!!!

Your fridge is not defrosting as it should.

This could be caused by the defrost timer, the defrost heater, or the defrost bi metal.

Can you please verify your model number as it is missing two digit at the end.

The model number can be found on a tag in the fridge section.

With the full model I can give more detail on your problem and a parts list.

Hi sheila
I misspoke in the posting. It is the evaporator coil. not condensor.
Also the tag does not contain any more letters or numerals for the model number. FRS23KF7A is what is on the tag with the serial number.

I did find an additional two letters to the model number. They are W5. That makes the entire model number FRS23KF7AW5. And I replaced the evaporator fan because it was not working. I took it out and tested it and it would not work. But the new one is not working in the fridge. Something else is not allowing the fan to come on.
