Default Freezer Drain Line Freezing
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ET8CHMXKT04
Age: Less than 1 year

Refrigerator is 3 years old with no problems until recently. The freezer drain line keeps freezing up. This causes water to leak into the refrigerator compartment when the freezer goes into the defrost mode. I have had a repairmen come out twice and all they do is defrost the drain line. The problem goes away for a couple of weeks and then returns. Any ideas on what is causing the problem and how to fix it.

It sound to me that the water is not draining away fast enough and then freezing.

If you are capable remove the drain hose and clean it out.

You may also want to take the evaporator cover off and clean the drain troth.

Here is a link to your fridge model ET8CHMXKT04.
