Default Freezer door not sealing
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: MFU20F3GW9
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

We have a Frigidaire freezer, model # MFU20F3GW9, that has a problem with the door. It's supposed to seal itself when you close the freezer; you should be able to hear the air being sucked out of the freezer after you close the door to create a good seal, and the door should take some force to open.

This morning we noticed that the door is not sealing itself correctly, and our food has started to thaw out due to the lack of seal.

I've checked the gasket on the door and it's not damaged in any way that I can see, it's making contact all the way around, and there's no obstruction that I can see.

Can anyone help?

Your freezer is a frost free model.

I think what might have happened is you caught it in the middle of a defrost cycle.

Keep an eye on it. If the problem persists call in a technician.

check to see or hear the freezer fan motor working. if that is working the compressor is not pumping like it should. in short best to replace the fridge because it is to costly to have the compressor installed.

Remove panel in back of freezer and check frost pattern. If completely frosted over you have a defrost problem. If so turn the defrost timer till it goes in defrost, If no defrost you probably have a bad defrost thermostat.
