Default Freezer defroster
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX25PRYDDBB
Age: More than 10 years

The drain hole at the bottom of the freezer doesn't drain the water when the freezer is going thru it's defrost cycle. Ice will build up at the bottom of the freezer and eventually water will leak out the freezer onto the kitchen floor. I checked the drain hole and it doesn't appear to be clogged.

If the drain doesn't drain fast enough it can also freeze the water. Dust and mold can block the tube at the bottom where it goes into the drip pan. Blow air through it using a tube that will fit in it or a basting thing to clean it out. Pour a solution of bleach and water to kill the mold. Make sure it drains fast. Could be a kink in the tube also.

Sometimes the defrost heater will get bent out of shape with age too.
When this happens they end up bending away from the drain hole.

There are kits make to correct this problem. I have also seen guy's use a large copper wire. They twist it onto the heater and feed the other end down the defrost drain tube.
