Freezer Cools For Awhile and Then Warms Brand: Frigidaire Model Number: MFU17F3GW6 Age: 5 - 10 years I have a Frigidaire upright freezer in my basement. The basement flooded with about 4' of water 6 months ago. After we got all the water out and everything dried out, I plugged the freezer in and it worked. It worked for about 4 months without a problem, and then one day I noticed everything had melted.
So, I started experimenting and researching what could be wrong. It sounded to me like the defrost timer could be the culprit. So, I pulled that off, and tested it for continuity. It was all corroded and didn't have a connection between any of the terminals. So, I replaced it.
Now, when I plug the freezer in, the compressor kicks on, and a half gallon bucket of water will freeze within about 5 hours. The coil looks like it is frosting evenly, and everything seems like it is working great.
Then 20 hours+ later the ice in my bucket is thawed, and the compressor is very hot (hotter than a few hours after just plugging it in).
Does have an idea of what could be causing this?
Thanks! |
