Unhappy Freezer cold refrigerator warm
Brand: Amana
Model Number: 8X20 KW
Age: More than 10 years

My freezer seems to still freeze but my refrigerator doesn't get cold..

Recently the electricity went out for 24 hours so I purchased ice bags & put them into the refrigrator to keep things cold. When the eletricity came back on I did not remove the ice bags right away & I am wondering if that is what caused it?
In addition the freezer started developing large chunks of ice along the walls inside the freezer but that only happened twice & I removed the ice. that has not happened again but the frig still does not get cold. Do you have any suggestions?
Do you believe this is repairable?

Thank you for your help
THS

Can you please verify your model number?

You will find it on a tag in the fridge section with the serial number.

Sounds like defrost timer may have stopped working or got stuck when the power went out. You can turn the timer until it goes into defrost mode and see if it will melt the ice buildup which is on the evaporator coils behind the inside wall of freezer.Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Defrost Timer - ACME HOW TO.com
