Default Freezer Cold, Fridge is Warm
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GTS18HCMFRWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hello,

I am having the same problem many other people have already posted about. My freezer seems to work fine but the fresh-food section is warm. I checked and the evap coils were not frozen. There was very little frost at all but I used a hair dryer to melt the little frost that was there. Compressor and fan is running fine. The evap fan seems to be running fine but no air is getting down to the fresh food section. From what I can tell there is just a straight plastic shaft that covers the evap fan and moves the air down and out the vent in the top of the fresh food section. I can feel no air coming out. There is no blockage that I can see. I was going to try replacing the defrost thermostat just because it is fairly cheap and easy to get to. Would the thermostat be a good place to start? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If there is no ice on the evaporator coil there is nothing wrong with defrost thermostat.

There must be something blocking the the air flow check the damper on the air tower.

The air is number 304 on the cabinet.

Here is a link to your fridge model GTS18HCMFRWW.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I took it all apart again last night and it looks like it is the evap fan after all. It does not seem to be coming on and has some resistance when I turn it by hand. I didnt even see any kind of damper that lets the freezer air in to the bottom section. It is just an open tower with the vent on the bottom. If the fan is not running obviously no air is getting down below. I will try replacing the evap fan assembly now unless you suggest something else. Thanks for the help.

The fan should fix your problem.
