Default Freezer cold - fridge warm
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX24SRA
Age: More than 10 years

2 problems occured at the same time-

1. ice maker water line froze up and now along with ice build up around ice maker from exces water / splashs -also water on kitchen floor. no frost build up in freezer
now or in the past. I cut off water supply to ice maker and no more ice build up or
water on floor.

2. at the same time the frdge temp dropped big time.

could there be a ice build up in the freezer that is causing a blockage that prevents cold air from entering the fridge. I have also read many threads referring to the defrost system components causing a similar " freezer cold / frdge warm" condition.

What do you think is most likely root cause based on symptoms above.
where can I find diagnostic procedures ?

If the fridge temperature dropped you likely have a defrost issue.

This may have cause the ice maker problem.

The defrost timer is behind the light lens in the fridge section.

There will be a little black knob between two screws.

With the compressor running slowly turn the knob until the compressor shut off.

The will now be in the defrost cycle.

The defrost cycle will last about 20 to 25 minutes.

Check the drip pan under the fridge after about 10 minutes.

There should be defrost water in it.

If there is no water in it there is a problem with the heater or bi metal.

If the fridge does not start up after 25 minutes turn the knob until the compressor starts up.

If it did not start you will need a new timer.

Also make sure the fan in the freezer is working.

Here is a link to your fridge model TFX24SRA.

Here is the defrost timer.
