There is no ice cream in the freezer at the moment (whats up with that??)

There is some light frost on the back of the freezer.

I don't have any type of service manual, so I don't know how to check the timer, etc.

Steve:

After reading your info, I agree heater & defrost thermostat are functioning OK. ("Defrost thermostat", afixed to the top of the frosted evaporator coil, stopped heater operation that 2nd time you cycled it on). It appears to me that the timer is stalling (not rotating constantly) since heater circuit energized OK when you rotated timer manually.

I'd replace the defrost timer.

Good luck and Happy New Year.

Thanks for all of the advice.

I changed the defrost control and so far so good. The temp. in the freezer is between 0 - 10 degrees, and the refrigerator is at 38. The refrigerator has been on for 24 hours, so I will adjust the temps. today.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Steve
