This could be your thermistor or the control.

Here is a link to your fridge model Gd5rhaxnq00.

Thaw out the vent to the fridge section. Measure temperature in refrigerator. If getting near freezing, you probably have a shorted cold control. If not, you might have a freon leak, worn compressor or clogged condensor/condensing fan.

Still could be a freon leak or a bad cold control. Only way to determine which one is to measure the evaporator input temperature or the freon charge.

You may have routed the cold control capillary line in the wrong place, or you got the wrong control for your fridg.
If this fails, send the cold control back, if you can.
You can buy a handy dandy "fits all" constant differential control for about $45
Pn 3030-505 (GC505) This is an ambient controller, NOT a differential control so...
rout it's sensing wire away from the vent from the freezer. It will regulate the actual fridg temperature you want like a room temperature control!!

I put a whole new control box in the refrigerators, you can not regulate the temp. in the freezer, It stays 20 degrees all the time. I have been charged over 400 dollars, This morning the repair man asked to take it to his shop now.
Thank
You
Paul

If your capillary line was partially clogged, the compressor would run hot, the condensing coils would be hotter than usual near the compressor, but cooler than normal away from the compressor. the freezer temperature would be warmer than usual, and the current draw of the compressor would be less than normal. These symptoms are not evident in your case.
It there was air contamination, the freezer would not get as cold as 20 below zero
Are you sure your freezer temp. is 20 below?? So...I don't agree with the Whirlpool statement period.
So.. only way to get this fixed is to get a pro. refrigeration guy in there to get the whole picture!!
