Default Freezer -10 but the fridge is 50
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: ctf2126ar
Age: 1 - 4 years

What might be my problem with my 2 1/2 year old fridge. It's -10 in the freezer but the fridge is only 50. When I open the doors, I can hear the fan running. Thanks for any assistance on this.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's open and that it moves when your adjust the control.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it possible there is ice built up in the vent area between the freezer and the fridge. I pulled all the stuff out of the freezer and put it in another freezer and noticed some ice build up in the back of the freezer. I also couldn't feel any cold air coming down into the fridge, however the pump/motor was running. I appreciate any further help. Will let you know if/when I get it fixed.
