Default Freezer 0-deg - Refrigerator 72-deg
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: GU2500ZTPB
Age: 1 - 4 years

Maytag (MFD2561HEB) Freezer drawer w/french door upper refrigerator.

Freezer is working fine and making ice OK. Refrigerator will not cool down. The demand temperature is at 38-deg. I can change demand temperature to 37-deg but unit does not cycle or make any attemp to indicate that it is trying to cool refrigerator section.

> Cycled power off at breaker for short period of time = no change.
> Used triple cool climate control panel to cycle pwr off for short period of time = no change.
> Activated Max Cool button which only caused freezer to get an additional three degrees colders.

Is there a fan which should be drawing cold air from freezer section up to the refrigerator section? If so, how is this fan controlled.

Thanks - Bill

Evaporator coil freezes over not letting fig. cool down. Fan is working because when I thaw ice off coil fig cools down fine for a week then need to thaw frozen coil off again. Is this the freezer contorl gone bad or the defrost timerthat causes the coil to freeze over? dan

Some have a defrost timer to tell it when to defrost. (every 8 hours or so). Others have a control board that tells it when to defrost based on when door is open and how long. Post you model number and we'll see which you have . It can also be caused by the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com
